Self care starts with a good night's sleep
Inspired by Georgia Knight's post 'Too Scared To Sleep | My Struggle With Night Terrors', I thought I'd share with you all some new products I've discovered, and some old favourites too, which contribute towards getting a good night's sleep.
It's so important not to underestimate the power of a long and deep sleep on your body - both mentally and physically. For me, a relaxing evening routine usually involves a hot bath (usually filled with bubbles or a bath bomb!) If you're looking for an alternative to Lush (even though they're amazing), I also recommend trying the 'Miss Patisserie' range. Like Lush, it's vegan and cruelty free, and it's available at Boots here. Not a bath bomb fan? Try Soap and Glory's Calm One Calm All bubble bath!
I've also been using Indeed Labs Retinol Reface - this night cream has an overall rating of 4.3/5 on Boots, and is often sold out! It increases collagen production and fights signs of ageing, leaving your skin super smooth and moisturised. I've never tried products with Retinol in before (it's a Vitamin A derivative) so this was really exciting! I love the light fragrance and the thickness is perfect.
Another exciting piece of blogger mail I received this month is this gorgeous lounge tee from Homebody Womenswear. The 'Relaxed V-Neck Tee' retails at £105, which may seem a lot but it's definitely worth it. The tee is handmade in the UK with their signature Modal-Sens fabric. It is the SOFTEST piece of clothing I've ever owned. I'm not a big fan of pyjamas but I'm converted now as the fabric is so breathable!
The final piece of my relaxing bedtime routine is to do one of my favourite things - reading. I recommend lighting a candle, putting on a bedside light (strong enough so that you don't strain your eyes!) and picking up a book! I read a ridiculous amount, so have Kindle Unlimited, but one of my favourite authors is Matt Haig and I often find myself picking up his books. If you suffer with depression or anxiety, I really recommend you check out his book 'Reasons To Stay Alive'.
Are you getting the quality sleep that you need? What helps you relax before bedtime? Let me know if the comments!
