Dreaming of the Canaries

June 2016... Ali goes to Gran Canaria
June 2017... Ali goes to Lanzarote
June 2018... WHY DON'T I HAVE A HOLIDAY BOOKED YET?!

I'm currently lusting after another trip to the Canary Islands and have been browsing at the great deals on Holiday Gems! Why do I love the Canaries so much? I'll tell you!

Flight time:

Between 4 and 4.5 hours from London. This is the perfect amount of time to have a nap, listen to some music or read a good book -  but doesn't leave you in need of a huge stretch! Long distance flights are difficult when you suffer from chronic pain, and a shorter flight means more time enjoying the holiday!

Time difference:

Absolutely none! No need to be worrying about when to call home or changing your watch - the Canaries are on GMT, the same as the U.K, so they spring forward and fall back just like we do!

Weather:

Winter in the Canaries is still a balmy 17/18 degrees, whilst July and August sees highs of 25-30! This temperature is absolutely perfect for getting a tan without getting too dehydrated. The cool sea breeze helps to manage the heat too, which I really love!

Things to do:

Now, I'm not going to lie, my experience of the Canary Islands has mainly involved lying by a pool and drinking cocktails.. But if you're into a more adventurous holiday then the Canary Islands offer plenty of water sports (including diving), beautiful national parks, and family friendly activities!

Have you been to the Canary Islands? Have you got a summer holiday booked yet? Let me know in the comments!
